Connectaball
Application notes and features.
Cambion's test point system, Connectaball, is specifically deigned to enable users to enhance the serviceability of their equipment without unduly burdening their cost. The males are precision turned low cost components, and the females, high performance, high durability parts, also made on screw machines.
Connectaball specifically targets users of "loop" and "hook" test points, offering greater versatility and reliability at a competitive price.
The males are available with a choice of four different platings, and five different mounting styles, including surface mount. The females share the same choice of platings, are colour coded, and are supplied as ready assembled test leads, or as loose components to be attached to a cable type and style of the customer's choice.
The female attaches to the male by pushing vertically down on the male. Connection is confirmed by a clearly audible "click".

There is electrical continuity maintained throughout an angle of 60° inclusive (minimum) around the axis of the male, thus allowing wide access. Connectaball has a high retention force, resisting accidental disconnection.

To disconnect the female from the male, the female is persuaded past it's normal wide access angle, at which point it will un-mate with the minimum of pressure, a critical feature, particularly for use on surface mount boards.
